The standard specifies the procedures for the tests to be carried out on safety valves in order to check the set pressure, the seat tightness and, where applicable, the shell tightness. In addition, the standard provides the characteristics of the equipment for performing the tests.
The test procedures described can be applied during periodic inspection, maintenance activities or, when necessary, for newly constructed safety valves.
This standard is applicable with air, nitrogen or water as test fluids.
Excluded from this standard are test procedures and equipment necessary for the determination of other functional and/or performance characteristics of safety valves (e.g. overpressure, blowdown, lift, etc.).
